The Hamptons. Just that phrase by itself conjures up images of socialites, celebrities and hedge fund bankers partying the night away by the pool of one of the multi-million dollar homes dotting this popular seaside resort on Long Island’s east end. But the Hamptons, which comprise a group of villages and hamlets in the towns of Southampton and East Hampton, are more than just the epicenter of Long Island’s social scene.
Lately, the loudest buzz in the Hamptons have been coming from Montauk on the area’s easternmost edge, and the village of Sag Harbor.
Montauk, where grungy motels and antiquated restaurants are now morphing into hyper-chic establishments, is home to the Montauk Point Lighthouse, the oldest in New York State. The fourth oldest active lighthouse in the country, Montauk Point Lighthouse boasts a 110-foot high tower. If a climb to the pinnacle seems too daunting, visitors have the option of exploring the museum located in the 1860 Keepers’ house. Among other artifacts, it houses an intriguing assortment of historical documents and photographs. It was off Montauk Point that the famed slave ship, the La Amistad, was captured after its cargo of slaves from Sierra Leone had taken control of the ship.
The Village of Sag Harbor, too, has its own chapter in the annals of Black history. The tight knit African-American neighborhood was established in the early twentieth century as a retreat from racism. Actually, this past January 25, OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, took a fascinating look at the incorporated village, which straddles the towns of Southampton and East Hampton. The documentary featured an interview with Sag Harbor resident and famous restaurateur B. Smith and her husband Dan Gasby.
The Village of Sag Harbor and the Montauk Point Lighthouse are just two of the stops a three-day, two-night round trip motor coach excursion organized by J C Tours and Cruises, Inc., will take in

People who take frequent short trips rather than extended getaways tend to be happier . At least that is what some Psychologist say.
As Prof Ariely, who teaches at Duke University in North Carolina puts it:"On a long vacation, day seven is less fulfilling than day one because it's not as exciting. That is why in general, going away four times a year provides more benefit than you wouold expect , and going away for one week provides less benefit than you would expect."
Professor Ariely’s take on so called mini-breaks touches on rising trend in travel.
Faced with shrining disposable incomes and pressing commitments. Americans are taking shorter trips. Such excursions . like the early summer, four –day jaunts to Cape Cod JCTours & Cruises organizes each year , give travelers a chance to excape the rat race for a fraction of what a longer trip would cost .
